The Natco High School was established in 1995 with a view to providing education to the children of the Natco employees in Kothur and Mekaguda, as well as to a few children from the surrounding villages, in Mahboobnagar district. The initial strength of this school was 150, and everyone was accommodated in makeshift tin and thatch structures.
Today, the school is 1050 strong, boasts of excellent infrastructure, and has classes from lower kindergarten to standard 10. A majority of the children here are from the villages/thandas around, and are given either subsidised, or free education. The school is run by Natco Trust, but the Principal and teachers of the school are the main machinery that keep the school in its top form.
Natco Trust has contributed considerably toward the infrastructure at the government high school, at Borabanda. The construction of the school was undertaken by the Trust on the basis of a public-private partnership with the Andhra Pradesh district administration. 300 children now study at the school, and we expect the number to triple in the next year.
Natco Trust next looks to begin full-fledged vocational training programmes for the children in, and drop-outs from around, the school. Soft-skills and livelihoods training are to be offered from the coming academic year onwards.
Regular health camps are conducted by the Trust for the children of this school, and for those of the surrounding areas. The Trust organises the camps, and provides free medicines.
